Volvo to supply engines to Kharkiv Tractor Plant

The KTP has signed a contract with Volvo to supply 1,000 250-horse power engines annually.

The move will cut Ukraine’s dependence on Russia who had imposed a moratorium in Feb. 2015 on its engines exported to Ukraine,Interfax-Ukrayina reports Oct. 8. 

The contract will enable the Kharkiv plant to install Volvo engines on half of its tractors sold in Africa and Asia. The other half will be equipped with the Russian-made engines at a subsidiary in Belgorod,Russia.

The plant is targeting African and Asian markets to increase its share of products sold to this area,the plant’s director said.
